‘Children Opposed to Smoking Tobacco’, is a anti-smoking organization founded in January 1996, by a group of fifth-eight grade students whose primary goal is to keep tobacco products out of the reach of children. The group of students established this organization after they realized that more than 3,000 children start smoking everyday and that 1,000 of them will die prematurely due to their habit of smoking. These students had something in common; that is they knew the harmful effects of tobacco intake as one had lost his grandmother, other had lost his uncle, and few have lost their father; all due to smoking.
Knowing the harmful effects of smoking, the members of ‘Children Opposed to Smoking Tobacco’, consistently informs children to stay away from tobacco products as they are not good for their health. COST strives to make the life of every child smoke free. COST had conducted research and identified that countless children start smoking or start to intake first puff during their teens and eventually becomes addicted. This organization believes that children or teenagers are most vulnerable to addiction and hence their prime focus is to educate them about the ill-effects of smoking as well as inspire them not to smoke.
COST strongly raises their voice against tobacco companies which trap children and make huge profits. The organization helps a smoke addict child to get rid of his addiction. They implement many innovative ways to help children in giving up their deadly habit of smoking.
