Action on Smoking and Health, originated in1967, is the America’s first, oldest, and biggest anti-smoking organization. It is a well-known organization which frequently takes hard-hitting legal actions and other steps to fight against smoking and to safeguard the rights of non-smokers. For over 40 years, Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) has been one of the most effective and successful nonsmokers’ rights and anti-smoking organizations in the world. Few prominent citizens, attorneys, and a distinguished body of physicians formed this organization who felt the need of an efficient organization to curb the practice of smoking and to represent nonsmokers’ rights.

American Legacy Foundation is a non-profit organization devoted to encourage smokers to quit and prevent teen smoking. Their mission is to build a world where young people can refuse tobacco and anyone can quit. It is a national tobacco prevention and educational organization in the United States that was funded and created by the 1998 Master Settlement Agreement.

In the modern history, German Nazi's were the first to lead a public anti-smoking campaign and also started a powerful and most influential anti-tobacco movement. After the Nazis came to power in Germany, they led the most powerful anti- smoking campaign in the world. The campaign was the most influential movement during the 1930s and early 1940s. Nazis openly criticized tobacco consumption as well as strongly opposed the practice of smoking.
