Smoking scenes are decreasing in movies

Recent study depicts that there is a significant decline of smoking scenes in movies. Hollywood movies are literally snuffing smoke scenes out of it. Studies suggest that smoking scenes in movies have enormously reduced in past 2 years in order to trim down the impact of smoking on mass population.

According to Stan Glantz, director of the Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education at the University of California, San Francisco, Hollywood has the potential to make movies which will win the hearts of millions even though there is no smoking scene at all. Several anti-smoking organizations and Stan Glantz have been pressurizing movie studios for years to cut down smoking in movies.

Smoking is against the law at Vancouver beaches, parks

The Vancouver park board is all set to prohibit smoking at Vancouver’s beaches and scenic parks. Board commissioner Raj Hundal reported that the ban is backed by the scientific community and health officials. The Vancouver park board ban on smoking came into effect on September 1, 2010. That means no smoking at any Vancouver seawall, trails, sport fields, playgrounds, public golf courses, parks, areas within park boundaries, and beaches.

The staff of Vancouver park board is concerned about the health of Vancouverites as well as about the cleanliness of the city. Smoking ban in Vancouver beaches, parks etc is a step towards protecting the health of Vancouverites and retaining the city as green, clean and healthy city.

Smoking 2 year old boy, quits 40-a-day cigarette habit

The world was shocked last May when Indonesian toddler, Ardi Riza, made internet celeb status by smoking 40 cigarettes every day. The smoking habit of a 2 year old Ardi Riza was exposed publically. At that time, Riza was eighteen months old. The first cigarette to Riza was given by his father. Since then the toddler literally puffs away 2 pack of cigarettes every day. Sources revealed that the tiny tot used to become angry and started banging his head on walls if cigarette was kept away from him.

According to the Jakarta Globe reports, Ardi’s parents handed over Ardi to the rehab center. Psychologist Kak Seto of the rehab center staed that “Ardi will be soon back to the beauty of childhood play once he undergoes ‘through play therapy’; which will keep his mind occupied in playing”.
